Yes, you read it right.  Barry Manilow gets it.  First of all, you must know that I am a Fanilow.  Always have been, always will be.  Don’t believe me?  Call my cell phone and listen to the music you receive while my phone is ringing. 

Barry understands that without his fans (his customers), he has nothing.  Every CD you buy, every concert you attend, even his website, covers every detail.  At his concerts, he gets the crowd involved by inviting someone from the crowd (unfortunately, I have never been picked) to come up and sing “Copacabana”.   He doesn’t pay attention to his critics (not his customers), but pays attention to his fans.  He’s the first one to make fun of himself. 

How many times do you think that poor man has sang “Mandy”?  Go to a concert today and you will think it is his first time.  He puts the same passion into it today as in 1972.  He does that with all of his songs.  He sings as if he is singing right to you.  His passion is all part of it.  Clearly he loves what he does for a living and that is so important in being the best.  He understands that keeping up with the times is important as well.  He has even been labeled “hip” in some instances.
