WE SAW ELVIS

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Well, not exactly, but we were in his house.  What a great trip.  Mom, Terri, Bailey and I took our quarterly girls’ trip and drove to Memphis, Tennessee.  We saw our Uncle Nolan and Aunt Chesteen and then checked in to the Hilton.  Our hotel was fantastic.  Customer service — fantastic.  Anyway, had dinner on Friday night and then went back to the hotel and played games all night.  On Saturday we toured Graceland and just thoroughly enjoyed it.  If you have never been, it is a sight to see.

Later that day we met up with Uncle Nolan and Aunt Chesteen and ate at Neely’s International Barbecue.  The Neely’s have a tv show and the restaurant was also featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”.  The food was great.  We left there and drove to Beale Street.  We walked along Beale and stopped at many placed.  We then took a carriage ride through downtown and then took a rode on a cable car.  How fun!  Then, back to the hotel for some more games.  (Ask Mom and Terri which girls beat them in Scrabble two games!)

On Sunday, we took it easy going home, stopping in Sikeston at Lambert’s Throw Roll Restaurant and then did some Christmas shopping.

The trips have been great.  We have been doing them for a couple of years.  We have been to Chicago, Nashville, Springfield (twice), Memphis and a couple of overnights locally.  These are days that we will never forget.

WHAT A TRAINING WEEK

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

It was one of those training weeks, the kind that when Friday night comes, you are tired of hearing yourself talk.  (Yes, Ted, I did say that.)  The week consisted of mostly customer service training but the great news was that I was able to meet some new people.  I really love that part of my life.  My hope is that I help to inspire them to look at customer service in a different light.

ENJOYING THE MOMENT!

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

This weekend we had my niece and nephew spend the night on Saturday night.  We had so much fun, playing bowling Wii (yep, got my butt kicked), playing Monopoly (Aunt Dawn took them down), making dinner, baking and just having a great time.  You know we did a lot of baking (and drinking Dr. Pepper) when I heard both of them still playing games at 3:00 a.m.

I have been looking forward to this all week and truly enjoyed every single moment.  I hope you have moments in your life that you step back and enjoy.

HONORED TO RECEIVE AWARD

Friday, November 21st, 2008

It was truly an honor to receive the “2008 Generations of Success” Award from SWIC on Friday night.  I was in the company of four other very deserving individuals.  I love SWIC and have been involved with them for over 25 years.  Also, it meant a lot to me to have my husband, mom, niece, sister and Diana (my assistant) with me to accept the award.

Thank you, SWIC!

GREAT WEEKEND!

Monday, November 17th, 2008

It was a great weekend!  On Friday night we went out and practiced the “play hard” part of “work hard, play hard”.  On Saturday, the Chamber hosted the ribbon cutting at the new winery in Maryville and on Sunday I had a wedding shower.  I’m looking forward to singing at Michelle’s wedding in a couple of weeks.

I hope everyone is “enjoying the moment”.

NASHVILLE AND TRACE

Monday, November 10th, 2008

WOW!  What a weekend.  We went to Nashville just to get away.  We visited every honky tonk that you could imagine and found some incredible bands.  On Sunday we were going to head home but we found out that Trace Adkins was receiving his star on the walk of fame so we stayed.  It was cold and a long wait but it was so worth it.  We knew that Martina McBride was going to be there but also Little Richard, Brooks and Dunn, Josh Turner, Barbara Mandrell and even Randy Travis were in attendance.

Because we arrived so early, we were in the front row (about 30 feet from everyone).  I have to say that it was probably in the top five events of my life.  It was incredible to see these individuals who had worked so hard, be honored in front of their friends, families and fans.

And yes, Trace was HOT!

VOTE!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

We experienced history last week and this day will go down in American History.  President-elect Obama has a hard row ahead of him and my hope is that he surrounds himself with the right people.
