GATEWAY GRIZZLIES

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Well, it is a pretty exciting weekend.  I will be singing the National Anthem at the Gateway Grizzlies game on Saturday.  Yeeha.  I have been practicing so much, I think even the cats want me to stop singing.

What a great opportunity!  Thank you, Jason, and the Gateway Grizzlies!

GATEWAY CENTER TRAINING

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

As a trainer, you can only hope for great groups like the one at Gateway Center in Collinsville.  We had a three-hour training today and the group was so dynamic.  Everyone was so willing to role play and participate.  I was actually quite impressed with their creativity in the role play — even including props.

Thank you, Gateway Center, for making my job such an easy one.  For those of you who have never been to Gateway Center in Collinsville, I encourage you to attend any event or book an event.

WHAT TO DO WITH POOR SERVICE?

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

I am often asked “so what do you do when you receive poor customer service”?  Well, there are many options.  My first recommendation would be that you NOT develop an attitude with anyone (even if they have one with you).  Yes, I know what you are thinking — but I am the customer!  Yes, I realize that.  But think of it this way — is it really fair to yell (or even raise your voice) to someone in service.  Be the bigger person!

Next, it is always okay to contact management.  Again, approach is everything.  (By the way, if you consistently get bad service, this is the first place I would look at changing.)  I know that this is probably what you do not want to hear but I believe we can chance customer service from either side — as the customer service provider or as the customer.

This about it.  I will continue to write about this and offer more tips.

RIBBON CUTTINGS GALORE

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

In the last three weeks, the Chamber has hosted six ribbon cuttings!  That is an unusually high amount but all of them were not for new businesses.  Some were for grand re-openings, new buildings, new names, etc.  It is always great to see host these events.  It is a huge day for the business.

Just another great part of my job!
